linkunzip on the command line

The helper is also a command-line tool. It inspects and extracts zips straight from a URL in PowerShell or scripts, without saving the zip.

Where it is

The installer puts linkunzip.exe in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\LinkUnzip. Run it from there, or add that folder to your PATH.

Examples

# What would extracting need?
linkunzip inspect https://example.com/big.zip

# Only the CSV files, with 8 connections
linkunzip extract https://example.com/big.zip -o D:\out --include "*.csv" --jobs 8

# A GitHub Download ZIP archive, read in one pass
linkunzip extract https://github.com/user/repo/archive/refs/heads/main.zip -o D:\out --stream

inspect <URL>

Reads the zip's index and prints the file count, the sizes, the free space and the comparison with download-then-extract.

OptionWhat it does
--listAlso lists every entry.
-o <DIR>Picks the drive for the free-space check.

extract <URL> -o <DIR>

Extracts into DIR. The zip is never written to disk.

OptionWhat it does
--include <GLOB>Takes only matching entries; can be repeated. Skipped entries are not downloaded.
--jobs <N>Parallel connections, 1 to 64, 4 by default.
--streamReads the file once from start to end, for servers without Range support. Works with --include; the whole file is still read.
--overwriteExtracts every file again instead of skipping the ones already there.
--forceGoes ahead even if the free-space check says the files won't fit.

host install, uninstall, status

Registers the helper for Chrome, Edge, Brave and Chromium without the installer, removes that registration, or shows where it is registered.

Exit codes and errors

The exit code is 0 on success and 1 on any error. Errors read as a sentence, with the technical cause and a hint on what to try next, so scripts can log them as they are.

Stop saving zips you only unpack once.
